Texas Christian Community Development Network

For several years, a growing group of Christian non-profit organizations and churches sponsored a conference that has continued to grow and provide meaningful workshops and speakers for Christian around Texas who wanted to make a difference for and with the poor and disenfranchised in their own communities. In 2012, a record fifteen partners have collaborated in this training event, a clear sign of God’s growing call together for greater impact on those we serve. For several years, these practitioners have discussed the need and possibility of creating a Texas-based network that would do more than offer an annual conference. In August, 2012 that sense of call was confirmed by the conference partners and other key Texas-based Christian community developers to formalize a new non-profit organized with the purpose ofinforming, networking, educating, training, and advocating for the poor and marginalized in our own state. In January, 2013, the leaders formalized the new organization by filing its Articles of Incorporation and IRS application as a 501c3 tax exempt organization.

The new network is being birthed with the four million Texans living in poverty as our priority. While we recognize the significant work that many churches and non-profits are doing in their own communities, we know that the numbers of Christians in Texas who are currently providing empowering and holistic ministries are small in comparison to the need. Regardless of one’s political and social views, we acknowledge God’s biblical mandate to address the needs of the poor goes beyond partisanship. We affirm that Jesus was “anointed to bring good news to the poor” and brought healing and hope to the voiceless, powerless and those trapped in systemic injustices.

Decisions by the Network are guided by a board of directors who span the state’s 7 regions,  TxCCDN Regional Map.
